Syrinx has been working pro bono for the Ronald McDonald House Emma Amsterdam for several years. It’s a house where parents, brothers and sisters can stay with children who are admitted to the Emma Kinderziekenhuis AMC. A safe haven to be as close as possible to their sick child, a place where they can relax and find support with other parents and volunteers.
[t]Huis, the magazine that appears four times a year, tells the stories of the parents, brothers and sisters of these sick children. Why are or were they in the house, how did they experience their time living there and above all: how are they doing now? Syrinx was asked to put these heartbreaking but also hopeful stories on paper.
We have already been able to interview several families. The last interview was with the Aziz family. Their daughter Alvera got a lack of oxygen during birth and now, two years later, she still is not able to breathe independently and is stuck to a respirator. She has spent the first twenty months of her life at the Emma Kinderziekenhuis AMC. Her parents and two older sisters spend every holiday at the Ronald McDonald Huis Emma Amsterdam, and drive to the hospital on regular days. Currently, Alvera is at home and can spends time with her parents and sisters with the help of 24-hour care. The interview appears in the spring edition of the magazine.
Corporate social responsibility is a term we often encounter in the real estate sector. At Syrinx we take corporate responsibility seriously. We are committed to enhancing society by offering our knowledge and skills pro bono to charities.
